u should have come to the LFS karting event then, almost everyone came off the karts after 20 mins and they were shattered, and thats only indoor karts. proper karts can break your ribs just from going around a corner, they pull 3.5G, one lap and u would be shattered!
hehe unlucky man! but when my track-rod snapped going around B at whilton at about 70mph, i went flat out through the fence and got knocked out. i jumped out after i woke up and straightened the sidepods etc and carried on, next heat i put it out of my mind. all people who race for real do this or they will drive round being scared and i bet u went out afterwards not thinking about it either!
i dont think people who race in real life have 'balls', just a trust in their ability.
for example, hit a fence, runs back to the pits and jump straight back in, knowing what went wrong and put it out of your mind. Or jeremy saying he was scared a wheel would fall off, you just go out and dont think about it and trust the mechanics.
the GP4 screenshot is silly, u cant see that much of the helmet, only the visor sticker at the very top of your vision, and i use a narrow aperature helmet. your focus is so far into the distance while u are driving so u cant actually SEE any parts of the helmet unless u focus close, if u know what i mean.
nah, i have 4 motors, one rotary valve 100 national, 1 reed valve FA and 2 TKM Extremes. I wont be racing the 100 national but might be using the reed FA in 100 nat in 2007 when the homologation changes. Keiran used to race junior max aswell, with 24 kilos of lead.
did u hear about the LFS karting event we had?]
And clownpaint yes u can test without a licence at whilton
lol keiran, £210, u have it easy m8, a standard rebuild for tkm cost me £320 just a few weeks ago! And i just blew my FA up, the carb butterfly screw fell out and went into the motor lol :S Why did your engine seize?
sure m8, ive got an air cooled motor called TKM that u can go on, and if u do alright ill let u have a bash on the FA, if u did go on it i would expect u to have a bash litterally its quick.
first time i ran it i was doing about 85mph at the end of the straight, went to brake and found that my brakes didnt work, the brake rod had fallen off. luckily there was a lovely soft bush to go into, fences hurt at that speed!
im at whilton in northampton in january and at shennington in oxford in feburary sometime and loads of other tracks take your pick.
i feel dissapointed that karts arent counted as real racing, ayrton senna described it as the purest form of motorsport, and the only people who say it isnt 'real' racing are the ones who have never driven a PROPER kart. The racing is harder for sure, than some domestic banger car series. For example a season in a european karting series can cost around 100k for a half decent team, these domestic car series cost maybe 30k and the drivers are alot less experienced and easier to beat.
i think 'proper' karting isnt so common as u need to get a licence, get loads of signatures to get a National A licence to race at national level. with indoor karting just turn up and race..
i think fordie is joking about the RC cars, i did it too and its not real motorsport!
those are 19hp yamaha air cooled motors, great little engines but a little down on power for seniors
if u have 1.5k to spare u can have a day testing an FA, or u can come drive mine at whilton one day, aslong as we have that race at brummie wheels sometime!!
